Frequently Asked Questions
What are your hours of operation?
We operate 7 days a week. Our early morning visits are normally completed between 6am and 8am; our midday visits between 11am and 2pm and our evening visits between 7pm and 9pm. We can also accommodate other times throughout the day at your request.
How do you get into my house?
We prefer to use a key to enter your home. When more than one sitter is caring for your pet, we will secure the key in a lock box on your door or porch. We can enter with your garage or door keypad but do need a backup key in case of a mechanical or power failure with the keypad. It is important that we have a way to get to your pet no matter what happens.
How do I schedule a service?
You can quickly schedule a service through our app, Time to Pet, or on our website at www.keckshaven.com. You have the option to request one service at a time or we can create a template for recurring services like daily or weekly dog walks.
What qualifications do your pet sitters and dog walkers have?
We are licensed, insured and bonded and a background check and drug test is done on all employees. The staff is trained on the job by a senior trainer, and they are required to complete a pet CPR/ first aid program.
Do I get to talk to my pet sitter about their visits with my pet?
Yes! We do all our communication through the Time to Pet app. This way the staff can send you reports and pictures after each visit and all sitters will be able to keep up to date on your pet’s care needs. The app enables you to communicate other needs you may have, such as canceling or changing your services and updating your pet profiles and vaccine records.
Can I tip my sitter?
As a personal service, pet sitting and dog walking are considered services where tips are acceptable. They are never expected but much appreciated. You can leave a tip marked for the pet sitters in your home or add it to your invoice, if you prefer. You can go back into your paid invoice one time once our services are completed to allocate a tip as well.
What if my pet has special needs like medication or insulin shots?
Our sitters are trained to administer pet medication and insulin shots according to your vet’s prescribed directions. Our app includes detailed information provided by you on how to care for your pet, including feeding instructions and times, medication details, and even behavioral and personality information that will help us cater our care specifically for your pet.

How often will you come to take care of my pet?
We require visits 3 times a day for dogs and at least once a day for cats and other small animals. It is important for us to monitor your pet’s eating, drinking, and bathroom behaviors on a regular basis to ensure their health and safety while you are away.
How long are your dog walks?
We can accommodate various times on dog walks with 20 minutes up to 90-minute adventure walk. We keep your dog safe by requiring a fixed length leash and by keeping them away from people and other dogs as we walk them. In extreme hot or cold weather, we may limit the walk for your dog's safety as well but can provide plenty of enrichment activities inside after we let them out to potty.
Will I get to meet my petsitter?
To get started, we will schedule a consultation visit with you so a senior manager can come to your home to meet you and your pet and answer any questions you may have. At the consultation, we will help get you set up on our App and make sure that we have all the information we need to care for your pet on their profile in the App and a key. Sitters are then introduced to your pet and trained by a manager and by following the detailed instructions on your pet’s profile.
